Save the Bees

Take the Pledge to Save the Bees

Your name will be entered in a raffle to win a gift card from Creek Side Gardens, a bee safe nursery! Get a “Save the Bees” decal when you pledge.

The Pledge

As pollinators and people are endangered by the use of pesticides and other harmful chemicals in the environment, creating a critical shortage in pollinator safe food & habitat, I pledge not to use any insecticide products that contain neonicotinoids or systemics, not to purchase plants treated with the products, or to use any products outdoors that contain poisons.

Identify your commitment by submitting the form below:

Protecting our Bees

• Beekeepers are losing 30% or more of their hives every year
• Native bee populations are in steep decline
• 1 out of every 3 bites of the American diet is possible due to pollination

Check labels to identify these systemic poisons: Acetamiprid, Clothianidin, Cyantraniliprole, Dinotefuran, Imidacloprid, Thiacloprid, Thiamethoxam and Sulfoxaflor

Stop any application of RoundUp, now banned across Europe. For a complete list go to: https://xerces.org/wings-archive/neonicotinoids-in-your-garden/

Additional beneficial steps you can take include:

  • Replace water guzzling lawns with pollinator gardens
  • Select native plants for your garden
  • Plant to provide three seasons of pollinator favored blooms
  • Provide shallow, clean water sources for the bees
  • Build or buy a solitary bee nest for your yard
  • Safely dispose of chemicals – www.rooneyroadrecycling.org
